  1. HR Approval: Required to ensure the integrity of the operating model is followed and consideration for any impacts to the employee category.
  2. Finance Approval: Required to ensure budgetary sustainability and long term financial obligations can be mitigated. Not required for short term roles.
  3. Academic3 Roles: College Dean/Vice-Provost approval required.
  4. Reappointments: Currently there is a gap in the process that does now allow Shared Services to check whether or not the financial obligation has been met. Based on the current roll-out the HR Partner and Finance Partner will need to work with their clients to determine that those reappointments approved for extension have the appropriate funding.
  5. Encumbered Roles: Consult your HR Partner for replacement and/or backfill of an encumbered role to determine if job evaluation is required.
2. Consult your HR Partner

Develop a recruitment plan and gather input about the position with your HR Partner  and the job evaluation team to ensure all new roles align with the University of Alberta for Tomorrow structure.

You will need to include the HR Partner’s name and their suggested recommendations as part of your Job Posting Request Form when you request a job posting in a later step.

3. Consult your Finance Partner

Obtain a signature or email confirmation from your Finance Partner that a budget exists for this position.
