HOW TO MAKE A PAYMENT

Choose one of the following methods to pay for residence.

A. Online bill payment

  1. Sign in to BearTracks
  2. Select “Financials” > “Make a payment”
  3. Make sure pop-ups are enabled in your browser
  4. Select your bank account from the dropdown menu
  5. Log in to your bank’s website in the pop-up tab

In some cases, you will have to add the University of Alberta as a “Payee”. If so:

  1. Navigate to where you can add a payee and search for “University of Alberta - Residence"
  2. Add your account number, which is your seven digit student ID + the first four letters of your last name (e.g. Jane Smith = 1234567SMIT). For names less than four letters, fill in the remaining letters with letters from your first name (e.g. Joseph Xu = 1234567XUJO)
  3. Once the payee is added, click “Pay Bills” (or similar wording, depending on your bank).
  4. Select “University of Alberta - Residence” from the payee list

  5. Enter the payment amount and the date of payment
    Note that the payment will take at least 3 business days to reflect on Bear Tracks.

B. Cheque drop-off

Cheques may be dropped off in the dropbox on the 3rd floor Administration Building.

Cheque is payable to: University of Alberta. Provide Student Name, ID and identify as a residence payment.

C. Credit card

Students may opt to pay by credit card using PayMyTuition. Service fees may apply.

D. International payments

Payments from outside Canada can be made through PayMyTuition or by using Convera and selecting Residence/ Meal Plan.

E. At your financial banking institution

Use the payment form to pay at your bank within Canada


PAYMENT SCHEDULE

Your residence confirmation letter (room offer) will identify your payment type as either term or monthly.

Term rent (4 + 8 month contracts)

Fall Term residence fees will be posted in Bear Tracks on September 15 and are due September 27.

Winter Term residence fees will be posted in Bear Tracks on January 15 and are due January 31.

Monthly rent (monthly + 11-month term leases)

HUB* | Aspen + Maple House* | Graduate Residence

Your rent will be posted to your Bear Tracks account on the 15th of each month and is due the last day of the same month. For example, your September rent will be posted on August 15 and is due on August 31.

* The monthly rent payment only applies to the one-bedroom, studios and students on a grandfathered month-to-month contract. All other residents in shared units are on a term rent payment schedule.

Spring & Summer rent payment schedule

North Campus only

Contract 1 (May 3 - August 1) residence fees will be posted in Bear Tracks on May 7 and are due May 14.

Contract 2 (May 3 - June 30) residence fees will be posted in Bear Tracks on May 7 and are due May 14.

Contract 3 (June 1 - August 1) residence fees will be posted in Bear Tracks on June 3 and are due June 8.


Financial issues and outstanding accounts

For financial assistance and information, please contact us at housing@ualberta.ca. It is imperative that you keep your account fully paid at all times. Failure to do so may result in your balance being sent to a collection agency which will affect your future credit rating.

Note: Residence Services reserves the ability to suspend an applicant's room offer or renewal if they have an outstanding residence account balance.


Fees

Any of these charges applied to your Bear Tracks account are due within 14 days of the initial charge. After this time penalties will be assessed to your account for late payment.

If there are any discrepancies between the fees published on this page and the official fees, the latter shall prevail.
