A fast and reliable internet connection is more important than ever as we spend increasingly more time working, learning and playing online. All students in residence have access to free, high-speed wireless internet.

Resident NETWORKS

ResNet (wireless)

Available in Aspen House, Alder House, Graduate Residence, Hoyme Complex, HUB, International House, Lister, Linden House, Maple House, Nîpisîy House, Ravine Complex, Peter Lougheed Hall, Pinecrest House, Résidence Saint-Jean, Tamarack House.

  1. In your device's Wi-Fi settings, connect using your CCID and password.

ResNet_Gamer (wireless)

Available in Alder House, Aspen House, Hoyme Hall, HUB, Linden House, Maple House, Ravine Complex.

  1. Fill out the Request access to ResNet_Gamer form.
  2. You will receive the password for that network in an email once approved, only the devices you submit on the request form will be able to connect.

ResNet (wired)

Available in Graduate Residence, International House, Lister, Nîpisîy House, Peter Lougheed Hall, Pinecrest House, Résidence Saint-Jean, Tamarack House, Ravine Complex.

  1. Provide your own (Cat6) network cable.
  2. Depending on which building you live in, connect your network cable from your device to either:
    • a black network jack on the wall near your desk. Only one network jack is active in double rooms.
    • a small wireless access point either by your desk or in a common area of your unit.

Internet service provider

Available in Marge’s House, Elsey’s House, Theme Community House, Fraternities + Sororities.

  1. Sign up for internet service from the provider of your choice.
  2. Residents are responsible for paying any fees incurred.

Guest NETWORKS

ResNet_Guests (wireless)

Available in all residence buildings.

  1. In the device’s Wi-Fi settings, connect to the network (no password needed).
  2. Open the browser and agree to the terms and conditions.

Eduroam (wireless)

Available in all residence buildings.

The eduroam network offers seamless connectivity on any campus where it’s broadcast, worldwide. It is available to all U of A students and people visiting from other institutions.

  1. In the device’s Wi-Fi settings, connect using the email address and password of your home institution (for U of A students, your CCID@ualberta.ca email and password).
