The University of Alberta offers many resources and services, conveniently located on campus or made available online, which are dedicated to supporting the physical, mental, academic, occupational, environmental, social, spiritual and financial well-being of students.
Get support from the Residence Care Coordinator

Residence Care Coordinators are available to all students living in residence for support and help connecting to resources. This team consists of residence staff professionals who offer support via in-person and virtual meetings or email.
Contact them for any of the following reasons:
- Having financial stressors
- Experiencing grief and loss
- Feeling anxious, down or not like yourself
- You’ve experienced sexual violence (doesn’t matter where or when it happened)
- Struggling to build connections in residence or campus community
- Substance use is affecting you
- You are supporting someone else and want your own support
- You are concerned about some else’s wellness
Need help now?
Call 911 and then contact your RAs on shift (business hours) or U of A Protective Services (24/7) if you are in immediate risk or are having a medical emergency, or you believe someone else is.
In some cases Residence staff may complete a wellness check with Protective Service Peace Officers to confirm a resident's wellbeing.

Report behaviour that affects community wellness
Submit a report if you have experienced or witnessed acts of discrimination, abuse, bullying sexual violence or other misconduct.
Residence Fitness Facilities
In addition to the access that all students receive for Campus & Community Recreation, some residence buildings also have fitness facilities available to residents. These facilities are found in Lister Hall (Anthony Henday Hall + Thelma Chalifoux Hall), Peter Lougheed Hall, HUB and Nîpisîy House.
Lister Center also includes the David Tuckey Gymnasium, which is home to the Lister Dodgeball League, East Campus Dodgeball League and intramural sports.
Illness + Reporting
The Wellness Alert System allows you to confidentially report your symptoms so that rising trends within the community can be detected early.
Academic Supports
Benefit from the academic support programs and services that are offered to help students living in residence achieve academic success.
Financial Supports
Loans and bursaries are available through the Office of the Registrar for students in financial need.
Spiritual Supports
Spiritual well-being can play a significant part in our wellness. The Interfaith Chaplains’ Association provides students with spiritual guidance, care, and support whether or not they identify with a particular faith.
Giving Back
Residence provides opportunities for residents to volunteer and give back to the community, which can be a valuable contributor to personal wellness.
