Residence
Spring and Summer housing applications are now closed.
Residence has a number of options to meet the needs of students requiring spring and summer housing, which is available from May 3 to August 1. Here you will find information on contracts and rates, how to apply, moving in and out details and more.
Note: The summer academic term ends August 14. If you haven't secured a spot in residence for Fall 2024, you will be required to move out by 12:00 p.m. on August 1. Temporary housing may be available from August 1 to 19. Contact guest.services@ualberta.ca for more information.
If you have a confirmed spot in residence for Fall 2024, you will not be required to move out between terms but will need to relocate to your Fall assignment on July 26. Further details will be sent to you via email during the summer.

Spring and Summer Residences
Spaces in spring and summer housing are planned to be available in the following buildings, based on operational requirements. Students will be applying for a space, not a specific building. Assignments will be based on vacancies and consolidated space.
Aspen & Maple House
Shared 4-bedroom apartments available for Spring/Summer contracts.
HUB
Shared 4-bedroom apartments available for Spring/Summer contracts.
Pinecrest House
Shared 4-bedroom apartments available for Spring/Summer contracts.
Nîpisîy House
Shared 4- and 6-bedroom apartments available for Spring/Summer contracts.
International House
Residence hall suites available for Spring/Summer contracts.
Contracts and Rates
All contract lengths are fixed and do not include proration for shorter stays. Rates include heat, water, power, tenant insurance and wireless internet. Apply early, all contracts are subject to availability.

How to Apply
When applying for Spring and Summer housing, no building preference is required; assignments are based on vacancies and consolidated space.
- Complete the online application (available February 15) for Spring and Summer.
- Keep an eye on your U of A email. Room offers start going out in mid March.
- Confirm your room offer promptly and pay your $500 residence deposit, following the instructions in your room offer email.
Eligibility
U of A students in active degree programs or enrolled in Intersession courses are eligible for Spring and Summer residence. To qualify, students must have a valid U of A student ID number, as well as a valid Campus Computing ID (CCID) and password.
Roommate requests
We accept and prioritize roommate requests submitted by April 1 in shared apartments if all residents agree and request to live with each other. While we strive to accommodate, we cannot guarantee fulfillment of all requests.
Cancellation policy
There is no penalty for cancelling your reservation before the spring and summer contract start date. However, once the contract starts, the residence deposit and rent are non-refundable.
Please note, the $25 application fee is non-refundable in all circumstances.
Moving in
For NON-current residents
Don’t forget to bring your government-issued ID when picking up your keys. Key pickup locations for Contracts 1 & 2:
On May 3:
- International House (Residence Services Office) | 12 - 4 p.m.
- Lister Centre (Student & Guest Services Desk) | 5 - 11 p.m.
On May 4 & 5:
- Lister Centre (Student & Guest Services Desk) | 7 a.m. - 11 p.m.
From May 6 onwards:
- International House (Residence Services Office | 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
For current residents
You will remain in your current unit and transfer to your Spring and Summer assignment between May 10-17. Confirmed dates and instructions will be emailed mid-April.
For Contract 3 residents
Instructions will be emailed to you mid-May.
Moving out
Follow all move out instructions carefully.
If transferring to another residence for Fall 2024
Be ready to move on July 26.
If moving out by August 1
Return keys by 12 p.m. Limited temporary housing may be available at a nightly rate from August 1-19; contact guest.services@ualberta.ca for details. Use the drop box at International House to return keys.
If moving out before August 1
Submit a notice to vacate to International House, return keys by noon on your specified date. Use drop boxes at International House to return keys.
More Information
- Bring or buy a fan as our residences do not have air conditioning.
- Smoking, including e-cigarettes and vaping, is strictly prohibited, and violators may face immediate eviction.
- Arrange parking through Parking Services.
- Bring your own bedding, pillows, sheets, towels, etc., as no linen or room service is provided. Pinecrest House has double beds; all others have twin beds. Laundry facilities are available in all residences.
Frequently Asked Questions
Once you move to your Fall assignment, you are responsible for full Fall/Winter contract fees.
No, students seeking a studio or 1-bedroom apartment in Graduate Residence, HUB, Aspen House, or Maple House should use the 2024-2025 residence application. These units are not available at the Spring/Summer rates.
All students MUST be prepared to relocate to another unit for the Spring/Summer term.
No. Meal plan contracts will start on August 26 for those living in a residence with a meal plan or those subscribing to a voluntary meal plan in Fall 2024.
No. Storage will not be available due to lack of space.
