Family Medicine Associates, Grande Prairie

Overview

Physicians in Grande Prairie's Family Medicine Associates clinic (FMA) offer an extremely broad range of services to patients under their care. In addition to providing comprehensive team-based care within a clinic setting, all FMA physicians provide care to panelled patients admitted to hospital, long-term care facilities, and hospice. Several FMA physicians also work shifts in the ER and/or provide low-risk obstetrical care. In addition, one FMA physician has extra training and extensive experience in palliative care medicine.

FMA physicians provide comprehensive care for patients of all ages and genders, representing a broad mix of socioeconomic, occupational, and ethnic/cultural backgrounds, and with a wide spectrum of acute and chronic illnesses. With specialists in Grande Prairie often acting purely as consultants, FMA family physicians are usually the most responsible care provider for patients with advanced and complex illnesses.

FMA has recently expanded its team to include nine family physicians. We have two RNs who assist with chronic disease management, proactive screening, and support for patients in long-term care facilities. Plans are in place to supplement our team with an in-house social worker within the next year. As a member of the Grande Prairie PCN, FMA is able to offer its patients access multiple additional services provided off-site at the PCN building.
