Workplace Health Promotion
A healthy work environment is one in which fairness, respect, teamwork, cooperation and commitment are fundamental concepts in the environment. A healthy work environment supports an individual's pursuits of both personal and professional excellence. It allows them to reach their full potential in all their life roles by encompassing environmental, psychological, physical and social health factors.
From a workplace perspective, health is influenced by two major forces: what staff members bring with them into the workplace (i.e. personal resources, health practices, beliefs and attitudes) and the impact of the workplace on staff members (i.e. the organization of work, clear expectations, effective communication, leadership support, recognition, etc).
Workplace resources and programs are designed to assist leaders and work teams looking to create a healthier work and learning environment. This section includes recent research (Psychologically Safe Workplaces), report and communications on workplace health.
