Gain competency in CBCT. This two-part module combines a theory exam with a hands-on portion. Key topics include the fundamental technology behind CBCT, operational parameters, patient management and positioning strategies, data management and reformatting of radiation hygiene and dosimetry.

Course overview
CBCT is one of the fastest-growing technologies in dentistry and offices rely on the staff to be involved with the various aspects of CBCT imaging of patients.
Upon completion of this course, participants will:
- Understand the fundamentals of CBCT technology, principles of operation, and utilizations of 3D imaging.
- Recognize the practical applications and objectives of CBCT in everyday dentistry.
- Identify limitations and artifacts in CBCT imaging.
- Demonstrate appropriate patient management and positioning techniques.
- Critique images to identify various errors and recognize how to troubleshoot to correct them.
- Operate and become familiar with CBCT viewing software and its many functions.
CBCT Training
Part one: Theory

Conducted in an online self-study format with online readings, lecture videos, case reviews and multiple-choice quizzes. Readings and lecture videos will cover:
- CBCT principles and fundamentals
- Clinical applications in all areas of dentistry
- Patient management and positioning techniques
- CBCT limitations and errors
- Data reformatting and software utilization
- Basic craniofacial anatomy review
- Three CBCT case reviews multiple choice exams and quizzes

CBCT Training
Part two: Hands-on
$300 | Hands-on | Unlimited capacity
During our onsite practical course participants will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with CBCT. The clinical will cover:
- Training for four hours in the Kaye Edmonton Clinic
- Positioning techniques and practice
- Reviewing and operating various machines
- Reviewing and utilizing CBCT software and functions
Pricing and details
Refund and cancellation policy
No refunds will be issued within 48 hours before the starting date of the course. If a refund is requested, it is subject to a cancellation fee of 20% of the course cost. Notice of withdrawal/cancellation of your registration must be provided in an email for a refund to be processed. Refunds will not be issued once registration is confirmed and course material, if any, has been emailed out, or after the start date of the course. Dates are subject to change and are based on enrollment numbers.
Class format
In-person dates are held in Edmonton, at the Kaye Edmonton Clinic, and run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. MST. The online content is available via our eClass platform and is in a self-paced, self-study format (no in-person attendance required).
Online materials are accessible for one year.
Our leading faculty
Dr. James Mah
program director in orthodontics and OSA
Dr. Mah, DDS, MSc, DMSc, BSc, is a clinical professor and the program director in orthodontics and dean of dentistry at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. His research is focused on 3-dimensional imaging and modelling for diagnosis, treatment planning and therapeutics as well as anthropology and forensics.
He has been involved in the research and development of 3-D facial imaging devices, intra-oral scanners, CAD/CAM applications in dentistry and cone-beam CT scanners.
He obtained his doctorate of dental surgery, master of science degrees and his certificate of specialization in orthodontics from the University of Alberta. Following he graduated from Harvard Medical School with a doctorate of medical science degree and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the department of orthopaedics at Children's Hospital, Boston.
Dr. Mah has authored numerous publications, textbooks, and book chapters and regularly presents nationally and internationally. In addition, his work has been featured in the Los Angeles Times, The National Post, Tech TV and Men's Health. He also reviews for the Journal of Clinical Orthodontics, the American Journal of Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopedics and other dental journals.
Dr. Shawneen Gonzalez
Oral and maxillofacial radiologist
Dr. Gonzalez, DDS, MS, Diplomate ABOMR, is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology and is the creator of an informational oral radiology website where she educates other dental professionals worldwide.
She is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology, American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology, International Association of DentoMaxillofacial Radiology and American Dental Education Association.
