What services do we offer?

As part of the student’s learning experience, you have the opportunity to receive the following services:

Comprehensive or limited orthodontic care for adults and teens (12 + years old)

Our students can offer customized treatment plans to address dental needs, including diagnostic evaluations, X-rays and treatment planning. Plans can address one or two teeth, all the way to moderate work.

Braces for teeth

Braces can be used for a range of concerns, such as crooked, gapped, rotated, or crowded teeth. Patients can choose from either metal braces, which are known for being durable and effective, or clear braces, which are known for their discreet brackets.

Clear aligners (Also known by the brand name Invisalign)

Take advantage of this virtually invisible solution for straightening teeth. Clear aligners are an alternative to traditional braces offering a removable solution for straightening teeth.

Jaw alignment and expanders

Jaw alignment treatments can address overbites, underbites and crossbites. Treatments could include expanders to gently widen the upper jaw and create space for properly aligned teeth. For more complex cases, surgical options may be recommended to correct severe misalignments and restore optimal jaw function.

How do real patients help students?

Treating patients is essential for our graduate students to effectively learn how to become competent orthodontists. Your commitment helps our students:

  • Gain experience with diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Develop skills with modern orthodontic techniques and tools.
  • Improve their patient communication and how to manage expectations.
  • Refine their manual dexterity and precision in procedures.
  • Learn to monitor treatment progress and handle complex cases.

What should patients expect?

  • Step one: New patient exam

    1.5 to 2 hours

At the patient exam, you will meet your assigned treatment provider (student). They will capture photographs, x-rays, and a 3D scan of your teeth. Before you leave, they will review the treatment costs, financial options and payment plans. This exam is $100.

  • Step two: Diagnosis and treatment planning

After receiving a diagnosis, you have the option to begin treatment planning. Your assigned student, guided by the supervising orthodontist, will create a customized plan to address your diagnosis. The plan is $400.

  • Step three: Begin treatment

2 to 3 hours, depending on the procedure

After creating a customized plan, you will start your treatment with your assigned student. They will have ongoing appointments with you until your treatment is complete. Depending on complexity, treatment can take 24 to 26 months and, on average, costs around $5,700 in total.
