When purchasing your lecture pass, please select both parts in the form. Part two is limited in the number of attendees that can participate and will be given on a first-come first-registered basis.

Part one: Didactic presentations

Attendees will receive presentations from instructors that cover the foundational knowledge of performing simple socket grafting for ridge preservation procedures in their clinical practice. This course does not teach advanced guided bone regeneration procedures.

Part two: Hands-on workshop

This workshop will cover biomaterials, instrumentation, and suturing. Socket grafting procedures will be completed on Dentoform models with biomaterial analogues.

At the end of these presentations, attendees will:

  1. Understand the benefits of ridge preservation procedures.
  2. Identify appropriate cases for ridge preservation.
  3. Learn appropriate instrumentation for ridge preservation.

The New ABC’s of Local Anesthetic
Dr. Stanley Malamed - Keynote | 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. | 3* CE credits | Whole office

Patients do not want to experience pain during their dental treatment. Fortunately, local anesthesia forms the backbone of pain control techniques in dentistry. Local anesthetics are the safest and most effective drugs for the prevention and management of pain.

Yet, on occasion, achieving profound anesthesia painlessly can be challenging. In this program we will discuss a means to making dental local anesthetic injections both more effective and more comfortable – the new A, B, C’s of dental pain control. Articaine; Buffering (the local anesthetic ‘on switch’); and Cold testing to ensure pulpal anesthesia.

Learning objectives: On successful completion of this program the enrollee should be able to:

  1. Discuss the advantages of articaine HCl compared with other dental local anesthetics.
  2. List three advantages of buffering local anesthetics.
  3. Discuss the protocol for the use of cold testing following loc anesthetic administration.

Dr. Melissa Shotell and Dr. James Mah | 1 to 4 p.m. | 3* CE credits | DDS, RDH and RDA

Every day in clinical, dentists have a variety of exams including recall hygiene exams. It is often easy to see severe malocclusions that are obvious candidates for orthodontic treatment, yet it is often difficult to identify the dental conditions that can benefit from minor orthodontic intervention prior to restorative treatment.

This course explores the concept of a rapid patient assessment to identify clear aligner cases. Troubleshooting will be discussed to help work through aligner fit issues to treatment completion success. Attendees are encouraged to submit a case to review as part of the course to participate in this interactive session. The focus of this course is to identify a way to get started with clear aligner cases starting with simple cases to build experience and confidence.

This course will review the top five aligner fit issues and how to reslove including:

  • Tissue impingement, loose at gingiva (poor scanning)
  • Aligner not fully seating (tight contacts)
  • Rough edges (hand polish)
  • Cracking (removal technique, bruxism)
  • Poor incisal fit (scan pattern)

Treatment Coordinator, Invisalign educator

Barnett's passion for dentistry started at a young age with a non-consenting root canal, an awful dental receptionist, and a surprisingly large bill to cap off the traumatizing experience. She has dedicated over 17 years to helping patients, team members, and colleagues across North America make sense of the complicated world of dentistry to ensure this type of exchange never happens to other patients.

Her love for Invisalign came in early 2017 after taking a team training course taught by Dr. Galler. Motivated more than ever to help improve patients’ health and smiles, she took a practice that almost solely placed brackets to complete orthodontic cases (and had completed a mere five Invisalign cases per year previously) to platinum within the first six months, and then onto diamond status within the first year. More impressively, she successfully established the first ever GP Invisalign-only practice in British Columbia through implementation of momentum-driven, highly efficient yet comprehensive methods.

Barnett continues to leave her mark on this profession through educating offices across North America with recipes for successfully incorporating Invisalign into their daily workflow.

Outside of being a treatment coordinator, practice manager and Invisalign educator Kylee is the proud mother to Ava, Kade, and Jax. Along with her husband Chace, they love to spend time at the lake camping, dirt biking, and snowboarding as a family.
