Simulation Workshop
This workshop will provide an introduction to simulation-based education in healthcare.
Description
Simulation-based education creates a safe realistic environment for learners to practice cognitive, technical and behavioural skills. In the era of competency by design, the ability to tailor educational and assessment experiences to our learners' needs is important. This is even more relevant with decreased clinical opportunities because of increasing learner numbers, fewer preceptors, and limited clinical exposures due to COVID. This workshop will introduce participants to some concepts of simulation-based education and provide ideas on how it could be used in their own educational contexts.
Objectives
- Examine theoretical frameworks underlying simulation-based education
- Describe different modalities of simulation-based education
- Demonstrate how simulation can be used in a variety of health-care settings
- Discuss how feedback can be delivered following a simulation-based education system
Target Audience
Anyone wanting an introduction to simulation-based education and suggestions for how to apply it to your particular situation.
