Federal regulatory reporting program

The Government of Canada regulates the use, production, and storage of certain chemicals and nuclear materials through the following programs:
- Safeguards and Nuclear Material Accountancy (Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission)
- The Chemical Weapons Convention (Canadian National Authority)
- The Prohibition of Certain Toxic Substances AND
- The Prohibition of Asbestos and Products Containing Asbestos Regulations [Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC)]
Regulated materials include the following:
- Certain chemicals, asbestos, or asbestos-containing products
- Nuclear materials (uranium, thorium, plutonium); preparations that contain these materials; and any research pertaining to the nuclear fuel cycle
Anyone who uses, produces, or stores regulated materials must complete the Federal Regulatory Reporting form by Friday, January 28, 2022. Health, Safety and Environment will then compile the information and submit it, on behalf of the Unviersity of Alberta, to the federal regulators.
