Campus Bike Racks

The University of Alberta provides bike racks outside most buildings on our campuses. Please bring your own lock to secure your bike to the rack.

Secure Bike Cages

We also offer five secure bike lock-up cages on North Campus:

  • Education Car Park
  • Cameron Library
  • Rutherford Library
  • Stadium Car Park
  • Windsor Car Park
Please visit Parking Services to purchase a permit.

Bikes in Buildings

Bicycles are not allowed inside buildings on our campuses.

If you bring a bicycle into a U of A building, Facilities & Operations staff will ask you to remove it.

Bicycles indoors are a tripping hazard and may block pathways or exits during an emergency; they also increase wear-and-tear inside our buildings. We appreciate your help maintaining the safety and cleanliness of our buildings by keeping bicycles outside.

If you have specific concerns about locking your bicycle outside or have questions about bike racks on campus, contact the Maintenance Desk.

Did you know?

The U of A has a Bike Sharing Program and a long-range Bicycle Plan.

Bike and locks on racks

Bicycles or bicycle frames left on racks for over one week will be tagged with a five-day removal notice. After five days, the bicycle will be removed and stored for 30 days by University of Alberta Protective Services. If unclaimed, bicycles will be disposed of.

Any bike locks left on racks will be removed.
