Ensuring access to study spaces and access between buildings after hours
5 December 2023
The University of Alberta is committed to providing safe and secure environments for learning, living, working and activities on U of A campuses. Since spring 2023, the U of A has proactively made updates to its infrastructure to enhance public safety and security. These measures included adjusting facility hours of operation and points of entry.
Based on feedback from our community, interior access routes have been established on North Campus to ensure access to study spaces and access between buildings outside of building hours.
Help is available for special accommodations due to accessibility concerns or if you encounter persistent access issues or require assistance. For questions or concerns, contact the Facilities Services Partner for your department or facility. For urgent situations contact University of Alberta Protective Services at 780-492-5050.
Interior access routes
Faculties and departments have worked with Facilities Services Partners to establish interior access routes through sections of North Campus from which students can access study spaces. All hallways, doorways and pedways along these routes will be accessible from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. on weekdays. Each route connects with one or more primary entrances, which share the same hours as the routes. Hours will be posted at doors and in pedways and can be found by visiting the Facilities and Building Hours search page.
Your ONEcard may be required for access to pedways and primary entrances during and after certain hours. Please ensure you have your valid ONEcard with you at all times to guarantee smooth access to buildings and facilities.
