What you will learn

Program overview

This course includes both didactic and practical hands-on participation in adminsitering nitrous oxide and oxygen inhalation sedation.

This course consists of an online theory and lecture (pre-study required) module in eClass followed by a scheduled in-person clinic day. This course covers modalities one and two in Alberta.

  • Modality one: Nitrous oxide sedation for patients 12 years of age and older.
  • Modality two: Nitrous oxide sedation for patients under 12 years of age.

Impact

By offering nitrous oxide sedation, dental offices are better able to serve their nervous patients and the local community. Offering this service empowers you to better retain and treat patients when confronted with difficult cases or anxious patients. Furthermore, you’ll be able to provide more immediate care by eliminating the need for specialists in some cases.
