Things To Know Before Your Arrival
Prior to living and working in AMLRS there are some things you should be aware of, and some things you should do in preparation for your stay.Learn more about the Station by going through the AMLRS Orientation (PDF) or AMLRS Welcome Booklet (PDF).
While visiting AMLRS please make sure you:
- Conserve Water
- Minimize Waste through Recycling
- Minimize paper use
- Limit Energy use
- Don't idle vehicles
What to Bring

Bedding. Sheets and blankets for a twin mattress / sleeping bag, pillows and pillow cases.

Food. There are several grocery stores within driving distance. Consider buying local, organic, or seasonal products, as well as reducing your meat consumption to further reduce your carbon footprint.

Clothing for all weather conditions. Be prepared for extreme heat and cold, rain, snow, and high winds.

Medication. Bring your own prescription and over-the-counter medication, including allergy medication, pain relievers, antacids, etc. as necessary.

Toiletries. Hand soap, paper towel / hand towels, and ttoilet paper are supplied, but the rest is up to you. Don't forget a face cloth and shower towel!

Personal electronics. AMLRS has a number of laptops with basic and specialized software that can be used by researchers, but for convenience you may wish to bring your own.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE). If you will be using the lab, remember to bring indoor shoes, a lab coat / apron, safety goggles, and any other PPE required for your work.
- Specific research equipment. Check online and with the Station Manager to see if the equipment you need is provided or if you will have to bring your own.
