Estella Stelter Award in Dental Hygiene
The Estella Stelter Award in Dental Hygiene was established by Shelley Schindell, a long-time employee of the Dental Hygiene program who recently retired, in memory of her mother.
This award is given to a student enrolled in any year of the BSc Dental Hygiene or BSc Dental Hygiene Post Diploma Degree Completion program. Eligibility for this award is based on the student's academic standing, commitment to, and involvement in, the oral health care needs of adults in long-term care, or older adults in general.
The value of this award is approximately $1,000.
The year's recipient is Bretton Schmidt.
ADA&C Graduation Scholarship in Dental Hygiene
The Alberta Dental Association and College (ADA & C) Graduation Scholarship in Dental Hygiene is awarded to students with superior academic achievement convocating with a BSc Dental Hygiene.
The monetary value of this award is approximately $1,000 each.
This year's recipients are Kayla Shannon and Amber Lundberg.
CRDHA Gold Scholarship in Dental Hygiene
The CRDHA Gold Scholarship in Dental Hygiene is awarded to a student with superior academic achievement convocating with a BSc Dental Hygiene provided that a minimum GPA of 3.3 was attained in each academic year throughout the recipient's academic career.
The monetary value of this award is approximately $1,000 and a plaque.
This year's recipient is Melissa Diep.
CRDHA Silver Scholarship in Dental Hygiene
The CRDHA Silver Scholarship in Dental Hygiene is awarded to the convocating student with the second highest standing with a BSc Dental Hygiene.
The monetary value of this award is approximately $500.
This year's recipient is Alora Pedersen.
CRDHA Gold Medal
The CRDHA Gold Medal is awarded to the student with the highest distinction convocating from the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry with a BSc Dental Hygiene.
The monetary value of this award is approximately $1,000, a 10-karat Gold Medal, and a certificate.
This year's recipient is Melissa Diep.
ADA&C Medal in Dental Hygiene
The Alberta Dental Association & College Medal in Dental Hygiene is awarded to a student with superior academic achievement convocating with their BSc in Dental Hygiene.
The monetary value of this award is approximately $500 and a sterling gilt medal.
This year's recipient is Celina Ellingwood.
Barbara Ann Zier Memorial Scholarship
The Barbara Ann Zier Memorial Scholarship was endowed by the friends and family of the late Barbara Ann Zier, who was the Director of the Dental Hygiene Program from 1982, until her passing in 1990.
This scholarship is awarded to students with superior academic standing convocating from the BSc Dental Hygiene Program.
The monetary value of this award is approximately $1,100 each.
This year's recipients are Alora Pedersen, Jessy Nguyen, and Angela Wan.
Charl Els/CRDHA Prize in Addiction Awareness and Brief Interventions
The Charl Els/CRDHA Prize in Addiction Awareness and Brief Interventions award is given to a student in the Dental Hygiene Program with superior academic achievement in the Addiction Awareness & Brief Interventions course, who also demonstrates an effort in promoting tobacco cessation outside of the classroom.
The monetary value of this award is approximately $500.
This year's recipient is Tessa Cameron.
CRDHA Jan Pimlott Award
Jan Pimlott was the Director of the Dental Hygiene Program at the University of Alberta from 1990-2002. She taught at the University of Alberta for 25 years and is still a practicing a dental hygienist today with over 30 years in the field.
The CRDHA Jan Pimlott Award is awarded to a student with satisfactory academic standing who is convocating from the BSc Dental Hygiene Degree Completion Program and has practiced dental hygiene in the province of Alberta for a minimum of two years. The recipient is selected on their leadership in the community or profession, their commitment to lifelong learning, and exemplary practice as a dental hygienist.
The monetary value of this award is approximately $1,000.
This year's recipient is Emily Barlow.
