Educational researcher by day, powerlifter by night, and (soon-to-be) PhD student on the weekend. And she has a cat. Jacqueline Green has been the research assistant with the Educational Research and Scholarship Unit for just under two years now. If you're working on a project in class or the clinic that has to do with educational research, she's here to assist you.
Let's get to know her a little more.
What is one of your proudest moments at work?
With my work, I get to see the end results and we get to implement changes to help our students directly. When you have a research question and you go through the research process and you see the results of that it makes me proud.
Tell us something we don't know about you.
I have just been accepted to do a PhD in Anthropology. I have an MSc in Medical Anthropology from Brunel University in London. As a part of my work, I worked with an NGO in Cambodia that looks at communities affected by diabetes. They use peer networks and place people in communities to educate impoverished Cambodians about living with diabetes.
Aside from reading Harry Potter, my only hobby is powerlifting. I used to be a body builder but found that with powerlifting, you can have new goals each week and you can really push your body in new ways. And I can eat more. I am hoping to compete in powerlifting soon. My biggest squat was 320lbs for 2 reps.
If you weren't doing what you do now, what would you be doing?
I would be travelling the world eating and drinking wine. And I'd be Olivia Pope on the weekends.
What's the best advice anyone has ever given you?
It matters not what someone is born, but what they grow to be. - Dumbledore
Favorite book or movie?
The Harry Potter books. All of them.
