The SHINE (Student Health Initiative for the Needs of Edmonton) Dental Clinic is student-run, providing a variety of free dental services to Edmonton's underserved youth. The clinic is managed and staffed by licensed dentists and University of Alberta dentistry students.
The SHINE Clinic offers a relaxed and friendly atmosphere to Edmonton's youth. The clinic operates on Saturdays from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM out of the Boyle McCauley Health Centre.
The students take pride in volunteering their time to help the inner City's youth, but they cannot operate unless they have preceptors (licensed dentists) supervising them.
If you are a licensed dentist, please help our students by volunteering your time for a Saturday morning. There is no obligation other than the need to show up during the hours of 9-12:30 PM and lend your experience and expertise as you walk students through the treatment process. You are also eligible to receive CE points if you volunteer. Without preceptors this program would not be able to run.
If interested in volunteering, contact DDS student Sara Fathi-Afshar. On behalf of the students and the School of Dentistry, thank you for your support.
