Airport Welcome

New international students arriving in Edmonton from August 12 until August 30 are eligible to receive a $25.00 transportation discount coupon from International Student and Visitor Services. This coupon can be used for a ride from the airport to your accommodation in Edmonton.

How do you get your transportation discount coupon?

  • Register using the form below (the form is closed for this year)
  • Note that we do not send confirmation emails once you register
  • After arriving at the Edmonton International Airport visit the Airport Welcome Booth on level 1 near exit 9. You can find the booth location here Edmonton International Airport Map.
  • Present your U of A letter of admission to the booth volunteers
  • Receive your discount coupon from the booth volunteers
  • Present the discount coupon to a taxi driver outside door 9
  • You will need to pay the taxi driver the remaining fare after they deduct the $25 coupon. You can pay using cash or a major credit card

The Airport Welcome Booth will be open between August 12 and August 30, from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm MT. The coupon is valid only on these dates. Please note that you can only use the discount coupon when you get a taxi ride from the airport to your destination.

  • Taxi fares typically range from CAD 50 to CAD 85 depending on the destination from the airport.
  • People often tip taxi drivers 15% when paying the fare.

You can also take public transit from Edmonton International Airport. ETS Route 747 provides a one-way bus service between the Airport and Century Park Transit Centre. From there, you can take the LRT (subway) to your destination. The bus service runs 7 days a week from 4:10 am - 12:30 am. The fare for a one-way trip is $5 cash.
