Preparing for UAlberta
We are so excited to welcome you to our campuses. Below is an information checklist to assist you as you prepare for your time in Canada. Before you start preparing, we ask you to take some time to understand your responsibilities as a University of Alberta student. This is a mandatory and important part of starting your life as a University of Alberta student.
Student Responsibilities:
- Abide by the Code of Student Behaviour: As a student at the University of Alberta, you will be expected to follow certain rules and expectations. You should review the Code of Student Behaviour before you arrive in Edmonton.
- Course registration: All University of Alberta students are responsible for course registration and changes to their registration. If you decide not to attend the university, you must cancel your class registration to avoid the tuition charges.
- Tuition and fee payments: Add, change or drop courses and pay any outstanding tuition and/or fees by the term deadlines. It's best to pay early because international payments take several business days to process. Failure to pay or late payment could mean that the university will withhold your grades, and it could impact your ability to graduate.
- Maintain the appropriate Canadian immigration Status: as a university student, you are responsible for maintaining legal status in Canada. Learn about immigration requirements
- Appropriate use of your UAlberta email account and Campus Computing ID (CCID): All official emails concerning your education or work will be sent to your UAlberta Gmail. You must check it regularly and act on any instructions sent by the university. Be aware of the rules surrounding the use of your CCID, wifi and email account.
NOTE:
Set up your UAlberta email account and check it regularly. Carefully read all documents and emails from the University of Alberta. These messages will include important reminders and deadlines.
