Overview
- According to the QS World University Rankings, UFMG is the tenth in the rankings of best universities in Latin America, and is is one of the five best universities in Brazil according to the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU).
- Contains an extensive area of secondary forest known as the Estação Ecológica ("Ecological Station") the largest "green" area within the city boundaries, where ecologists and zoologists carry out research.

Nomination Fee $250
The program fee is $1000 USD, and it covers a comprehensive package that includes lectures covering diverse topics in Brazil, Portuguese classes, accommodation, three daily meals (Monday to Friday), cultural activities, and transportation for field trips.
Students are responsible for their airfare, visa, health insurance, and any additional costs associated with studying abroad.
Students who apply to this program will be automatically considered for one of two scholarships of approx. $500USD.
Housing
Accommodation will be provided to the 40 international students participating in the SSBS during the activities. Due to the rotation of vacancies at the University Housing, the exact dates students will be able to arrive and leave the University Housing will be later confirmed. We will inform students well in advance.
