Program Overview
Ditchley was founded as a privately-funded charity in 1958 by the philanthropist Sir David Wills in order to support the Transatlantic Alliance between the United States and Europe by bringing decision-makers and experts together in a unique and inspiring setting. In recent years, Ditchley has evolved and invested significantly in its work on research, technology, and networks.
Eric Newell Interns
The Ditchley Canada Foundation is seeking 4 - 5 Canadian students who are interested in participating in the Internship Program, providing financial and travel cost support to allow the students to participate. In recognition of Eric Newell’s active involvement in promoting the participation of young Canadians in Ditchley conferences, and his generosity in supporting this programme, Canadian participants are identified as “Eric Newell Interns”.
When Can I Go?
Terms Offered: Summer
Duration: 6 weeks virtual internship June 24th to August 2nd, 1 week residency at Ditchley Park August 5 to August 9th.
Following the completion of the virtual six-week internship programme, Eric Newell Interns are expected to spend a week in residence at Ditchley Park in the UK. This residency will start on 5 August with a celebration at Ditchley, bringing all of the interns from our summer programme together for a day of activities, followed by a week of in-person meetings
and events in both Oxford and London.

Ditchley’s purpose statement is: “Ditchley works with people from across the world to help sustain peace, freedom and order.” Their aim is to build new common ground so that we can move toward solutions to complex problems. The Ditchley belief is that change is driven, and managed, by personal relationships, not reports or declarations.

Fees + Costs
Nomination Fee: $250 CAD
- Successful applicants will be provided with a stipend of $2500.
Students are encouraged to apply for funding even if they do not have a confirmed internship to avoid missing important deadlines.
