2024 Meritorious Service Award

Congratulations to Dr. Sebastian Straube (Professor and Division Director, Division of Preventive Medicine) on receiving the 2024 Meritorious Service Award of the Occupational and Environmental Medical Association of Canada (OEMAC) for "Exceptional Contributions to the Growth and Development of Occupational and Environmental Medicine in Canada".
The Meritorious Service Award is OEMAC’s official recognition of individuals who have made exemplary contributions to the growth and development of occupational and environmental medicine. Fields include contributions to OHS legislation, worker health and safety, research, education and professional bodies.
The Committee members consider every nomination received on the basis of whether or not the individual nominated has been shown by the nominator to have made a significant contribution above and beyond professional duties.
The award was presented at the annual OEMAC scientific conference in September.

2024 Poster Award
Drs. Charl Els, Alex Dyck, and Sebastian Straube also received the 2024 Poster Award at the Occupational and Environmental Medical Association of Canada's Scientific Conference in September.
The winning poster title and authors are:
- "Towards a National Canadian Standard for Psychiatric IMEs" by Els C, Gelinas B, Kertay L, Gervais R, Stewart-Patterson C, Bender A, Syed R, Singh M, Kravtsenyuk M, Dyck A, and Straube S.
Dr. Charl Els is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry, and Dr. Alex Dyck is a Clinical Lecturer with the Division of Preventive Medicine.
