Department of Medicine Teaching Awards

UGME Teacher of the Year

Nominations for the Undergraduate Medical Education (UGME) Teacher of the Year award are submitted by the medical students rotating through their Medicine clerkship.
Nominations are submitted via MEDSIS - the Faculty of Medicine UME online system.

PGME Teacher of the Year

Nominations for Postgraduate Medical Education (PGME) Teacher of the Year award are submitted by the Internal Medicine residents at the end of each rotation through the various Internal Medicine services.
Nominations are submitted via WebEval (ONE45) - the online evaluation and scheduling system.
Award letters are emailed to award winners and honorable mentions in late April / early May of each year to ensure adequate notice for award winners to attend the Department of Medicine Annual Celebration Dinner.

Medical Education Publication Award

The Medical Education Publication Award is given to a first, senior or corresponding author for a publication in a top-ranked journal or peer-reviewed compendium, with the work having been completed at the University of Alberta.

2023 CIM Residency Program Awards

The awards for the Core Internal Medicine (CIM) Residency Program were bestowed on December 15, accompanied by entertaining and amusing skits performed by the residents.
