Duodopa

Duodopa is one of the device-aided treatments of advanced levodopa-responsive Parkinson's disease with severe motor fluctuations and hyperkinesia or dyskinesia when available combinations of oral medications have not given satisfactory results. Duodopa is a gel mixture of levodopa and carbidopa administered throughout the day with a portable pump into the small intestine via a tube that connects into the small intestine (PEG-J). It allows a constant amount of levodopa to be present in the blood, which can reduce off time and uncontrolled movement (dyskinesia).
