China Tour: Experiencing Development and Change
This course will serve as an introduction to China during a three-week immersion and through learning rudiments of its language and culture, as well as of its economic and political life.
Students will get the chance to experience first-hand the changes that characterize the reform period from 1979 to the present and to catch a glimpse of the life of Chinese students today. The course will focus on the experiential learning inherent in reflecting upon these experiences and in the observations that can be made in public sites and in meeting informed members of another society.
Building on these experiences, students will also be taught, in English, by professors who work in China and can offer the first-hand experience and knowledge. Students will solidify their understanding of the different cultural, behavioural, and intellectual perspective with which they will come into contact.
