Extracurricular Activities
Campus Clubs
There are many clubs and groups on campus that support environmental awareness and sustainable attitudes, including Augustana Earthwise, the Augustana Wildlife Club, and the Augustana Outdoors Club. These groups hold events such as an Ugly Sweater Day contest and Earth Hour campfire, bird banding workshops and visits to raptor rehabilitation facilities, and kayak practice in the West Edmonton Mall Waterpark wave pool.
Local Organizations
There are also many groups in Camrose outside of the university that support environmentally friendly actions and activities, including the Battle River Watershed Alliance, the Wildrose Outdoor Club, the Camrose Wildlife Stewardship Society, the Blue Dot Camrose group, and many more. Several of these local organizations include Augustana students as members, or even employees, and host events in and around Camrose looking at environmental issues.
Events and Conferences
Opportunities for environmental events and conferences are plentiful and are advertised through the environmental streams. These include Sustainability Awareness Week activities at Augustana, the annual Student Sustainability Summit in Edmonton, and the annual Alberta Chapter of the Wildlife Society Conference.
