History of CAP

My time at Augustana played a key role in my accomplishments. In fact, 30 years later, I am still peeling back the layers of those early lessons and seeing new or deeper ways that they apply to my life, my family, and my business…I cherish my memories of those years at Augustana.

The Community Awards Program was established in 1973 to assist in making post-secondary studies possible for students with limited resources and to attract students to the then Camrose Lutheran College.

The initial committee, comprised of community members and college officials, was charged with the responsibility of recruiting gifts from the business community to fund awards. Working with the community, the Committee promoted two award funds - the Current Scholarship Fund (now called Annual Awards), and the Scholarship Foundation, which held the Community Scholarship Fund and Associated Endowments.

The Community Awards Program today continues to reflect the vision and goals of the founding members. It is administered through the Office of Advancement at Augustana Campus in partnership with the Student Awards Office. We continue to invite interested individuals, businesses, and community organizations to invest in our students.
