Kevin Ly
Kevin was born and raised in Toronto and received his Bachelor of Medical Sciences with Honors Specialization in Physiology and Pharmacology from the University of Western Ontario. He went on to complete his Doctor of Pharmacy at the University of Toronto and worked for 2 years as a pharmacist in Grande Prairie, AB. He is now a second-year medical student at the University of Alberta.
Kevin has practiced as a pharmacist in both community and hospital pharmacy, serving the rural community of Grande Prairie, and has also been the recipient of the GlaxoSmithKline Pharm.D Award during his time at the University of Toronto. He has been a volunteer with the Alzheimer Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories, helping to promote the annual Walk for Alzheimer’s to support people affected by dementia. He is also involved with the Asclepius Medical Camp for Youth as a Junior Coordinator responsible for outreaching and organizing a medical camp to inspire high-school students from under-represented backgrounds to pursue a career in medicine.
Vision for Social Accountability
Serving as the current Vice President of Community Engagement within the Medical Students’ Association at the University of Alberta, Kevin is excited to be supporting the delivery of Community Engagement Electives to pre-clerkship medical students. He is passionate about community involvement and enjoys giving back to the community in fun and meaningful ways. He envisions an environment where everyone is able to share their views regarding how best to promote equity, diversity, inclusion, and encourage community members to actively participate in decision making that affects their communities.
Hobbies + Interests
In his spare time, Kevin enjoys hiking, skiing, tennis, bouldering, running, reading fiction, and spending time with family and friends.
