Program Overview
Take part in a fully funded research internship experience while living on the shores of the Red Sea! King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) provides state-of-the-art facilities and specialized equipment to ensure faculty and students can conduct leading-edge research. Through the Visiting Student Research Program (VSRP) internship, you will have a unique opportunity to receive training and utilize innovative equipment to pursue your research goals under the guidance and support of KAUST faculty mentors.

When Can I Go?
Terms Offered: Fall, Winter, Spring/Summer
Duration: 3-6 months
Eligibility Requirements
Students must be finished their second year of undergraduate studies and have a minimum 3.5 GPA.

Application Deadlines + Instructions
Deadlines: Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, but students are encouraged to apply 4-6 months prior to the intended work term.

You will need to provide:
- Official academic transcripts
- Resume
- A letter of intent that explains your motivation to apply for the internship and identifies:
- your intended work term and duration
- lab(s) that you are interested in working in
Later in the process, you will need:
- A photocopy of your passport
- A letter of recommendation from any faculty at your home university
Fees + Costs
$250 nomination fee
What's provided:
- $1,000 USD monthly stipend
- Visa fees
- Round trip flight to KAUST
- Private bedroom/bathroom in a shared apartment on campus
- Health insurance
Students are encouraged to apply for funding even if they do not have a confirmed internship to avoid missing important deadlines.
