Overview
- Summer Courses in Japanese (SCJ) at International Christian University (ICU) is an intensive six-week program. SCJ aims to provide a stimulating environment where university/college students may increase their understanding of the Japanese language and culture.
- Students have opportunities to improve their language skills and develop confidence in intercultural communication in the classroom and in their daily lives. This program offers a direct encounter with Japan, its language, and its people.
- Yuichi Kurimoto Award for Japan Business Students: Bachelor of Commerce students may be eligible for a fully funded experience. The award value will depend on the length of the program and program costs.
- Lush green campus 30 minutes away from central Toyko.

A minimum Japanese language of level low intermediate is required (CEFR B1.1 is recommended); ICU J4 level(no beginners will be accepted)

- Japanese Cultural Activitiess…You will experience Japanese traditional activities such as Zen meditation, tea ceremony etc. *subject to change, some are optional
- Japanese College Life Experience…You will stay in an on-campus dormitory with ICU students and other participants to experience Japanese college life *There are additional conditions for the dormitory
Fees & Costs
Education Abroad Nomination Fee: $250.00 CAD

2024 Program Fee: 364,700JPY = Approx. $3500
Program fees include tuition, on-campus dormitory fees, administrative costs, and a textbook.
Housing
Participants will stay at the ICU on-campus dormitory. Two students will share rooms, which have beds, desks, and air conditioning. The restrooms, kitchen, and shower facilities are shared.
Students who wish to live elsewhere during the program may declare at the time of application. Those who choose to live off-campus will have a housing fee of 92,500JPY reduction from the above (which will make 272,200JPY).
