Program Overview
AKU offers On-Site and Virtual Programmes in East Africa and Asia that expand your cultural horizons through projects with a social impact! These programmes enable interns to gain valuable abilities, immerse themselves in new cultures, and network internationally early in their careers. Key placement opportunities are available in various fields such as health sciences research, data sciences, education, communication and finance.
What the program has to offer:
- Significant and professional experience for international interns who are eager to experience new cultural, social and geographic environments.
- Paid and unpaid internship opportunities for 8-12 months in East Africa, the Middle East and Central and South Asia. These unique career-related learning experiences will enhance your skills in international and intercultural settings under the mentorship of highly qualified professionals.

Fees + Costs
$1500 USD program fee includes:
- Two months shared accommodation
- Airport and work transfer (if applicable)
- Visa/permit
- Three cultural excursions
- Professional development (mentorship, webinars, courses, etc)
- Meal vouchers for first 7 days
- 24/7 support
Accommodation Fee: $500 USD/month after first two months
Check for funding through AKU.
Students are encouraged to apply for funding even if they do not have a confirmed internship to avoid missing important deadlines.
