2013: Concious Culture: Finding Paths to a Better World
The theme for International Week 2013-Conscious Culture: Finding Paths to a Better World-was chosen in light of our increasingly intertwining world.
International Week 2013 examined how we are a global community, directly impacting and engaging with people from around the world every day, and how we need to be conscious that our interactions are impacted by our worldviews and values-our cultures.
Speakers explored how culture can bring us together, but also how it can also divide through misunderstandings, political/religious hostilities and stereotypes.
I-Week 2013 not only called for an appreciation of other cultures for their unique contributions, but for reflection on our own culturally-rooted behaviours and finding paths to a better world by becoming more conscious of culture.
