Turn Science Into Solutions for the Public Good

Within the strategic plan, three areas of focus stood out as priorities over the next five years.

As we concentrate on the commitment to turn science into solutions for the public good, we will:

WHAT
Capitalize on our interdisciplinary capacity to identify and address grand challenges.

HOW:
We will identify grand challenges to which ALES can best provide solutions, by funding the programs that meet the prioritized grand challenges, and

We will identify and resource a structure, or hub, which will support ALES' interdisciplinary capacity.

WHAT:
Conduct high-impact research

HOW:
We will increase citation impact ratings; increase research funding that is collaborative with partners;

We will conduct workshops, talks and symposia targeted to inform research that creates policy, practice, regulations, patents and spin-offs; and

We will develop and measure quality and reputation metrics that will demonstrate the effectiveness of our research locally, nationally and globally.
