Departments

The Faculty of Agricultural, Life & Environmental Sciences at the University of Alberta consists of four departments.

Agricultural, Food & Nutritional Science

The Department of Agricultural, Food and Nutritional Science (AFNS) integrates many disciplines across agriculture, food and nutrition, including animal science, food science and bioresource, human nutrition and plant biosystems.

Human Ecology

Human Ecology is about changing lives. This multidisciplinary field explores relationships between people and the environments they interact with most closely. Both dynamic and applied, Human Ecology provides graduates with the necessary tools to understand and enhance everyday life.

Renewable Resources

Renewable Resources (RenR) builds a scientific foundation for better management, conservation, and restoration of ecosystems and landscapes. RenR discovers and disseminates new knowledge about forests, rangelands, crops, wildlife, soils and water.

Resource Economics and Environmental Sociology

REES is home to a group of collegial and welcoming academics and students whose work involves the application of economic and sociological theory, methods and perspectives to important problems and issues in food, agriculture, the environment, and natural resource management.
