Faculty Development
The Department of Pediatrics' Faculty Development Program exists to enhance the ability of individual members to succeed at all stages of their academic careers. Faculty Development promotes the development of processes and tools required to assist faculty in their transition to academic and clinical life. This includes:
- Leadership skills
- Teaching and dissemination of teaching products
- FEC guidelines and academic promotion procedure (including the process for complaints and appeal)
- Clinical Colleague promotion procedure
- Enhance ability to document activities in the appropriate dossier and annual report online (ARO)
- Support through the promotions process
- Mentorship opportunities
- Recognize the contributions and accomplishments of faculty - including our Faculty Awards
Pediatric Grand Rounds
Faculty members earn Maintenance of Certification credits through attending the department's weekly Grand Rounds.Faculty Tenure Track Promotions
The department provides a variety of support to faculty who are applying for promotions, including promotion readiness review and mentoring by the Academic Promotions Committee.

Clinical Academic Colleagues
The appointment to a clinical academic rank confers the privilege and responsibility of being a teacher for the University of Alberta.The Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry has several resources available to clinical colleagues, including information on promotions and appointments, faculty development, and the annual report form.
