Resident Trainee Research Grant (RTRG)
Overview
This funding opportunity is operated by the Department of Pediatrics and funded by the generous support of the Stollery Children's Hospital Foundation through the Women and Children's Health Research Institute. General Pediatric Residents can access up to $1,000 (plus an additional $780 as an in-kind contribution for WCHRI Biostatistics Services, if relevant) to carry out an independent research project. The proposed work must be within the initial stages of development and should be within the applicant's ability to carry out independently, within the time available, and under the guidance of the proposed supervisor(s)/mentor(s). Awardees may hold this award once only.
Deadlines
Funding is available on a competitive basis. Applicants will be eligible to apply during the first year of their residency only. The number of funded applications may vary year-to-year depending on the availability of funds.
Applications are closed for 2024.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Be enrolled in the first year of their General Pediatrics residency program in the Department of Pediatrics;
- Include projects that are in the initial stages of development or implementation; projects that are near or at completion are ineligible;
- Have met with a WCHRI biostatistician for consultation and service quote before submitting applications, if this service is included as part of the application; and,
- Have a supervisor/mentor who is a member of WCHRI.
- Have a supervisor/mentor who has an established or (at least) emerging record of successful research mentorship.
