Women and Children's Health Research Institute

The Women and Children's Health Research Institute is dedicated to promoting innovative, collaborative research that serves the unique health needs of women and children. It was founded in 2006 as a shared vision of the University of Alberta and Alberta Health Services, with core funding from the Stollery Children's Hospital Foundation and the Royal Alexandra Hospital Foundation.

In order to be the best, the Department of Pediatrics has partnered with the best. Through these partnerships the department is able to answer complex child health questions.


Alberta Research Centre for Health Evidence (ARCHE)

The Alberta Research Centre for Health Evidence (ARCHE) is located within the Department of Pediatrics.

The mandate of ARCHE is to:

  • Produce high-quality evidence syntheses aimed at priority issues in health
  • Educate health providers and assist them in producing evidence syntheses
  • Support and foster the development of evidence-based practice

Cardiovascular Research Centre

The Cardiovascular Research Centre aims to lessen the burden of cardiovascular diseases on society through the generation of new knowledge as to the underlying causes of these disorders.


Children's Environmental Health Clinic

Children's Environmental Health Clinic (ChEHC) is a unique program addressing the impacts on children's health from environmental exposures (chemical, biological, physical and social). The program considers all environmental factors to assess exposures, by integrating clinical, research and educational components.

ChEHC has local and international affiliations and serves communities within Alberta and across Canada. ChEHC helps interface science, policy and practice.
