What is shelter in place?
In an emergency, you may be directed to "shelter in place" as a precautionary measure to keep you in a safe indoor location.
Enter the nearest building if you are not already indoors.
If you are instructed to shelter in place
- Enter the nearest building if you are not already indoors
- Turn off fans, heating and air conditioning systems
- Monitor your university email and website for updates and instructions
Be Prepared to shelter in place
Spend a few moments evaluating your workplace, classroom, or other places you frequent. Identify spots that could provide shelter if needed.
