Program Information
Our Program:
We develop competent, critical-thinking, reflective radiation therapists who are committed to excellence in professional practice, and effectively contribute to the care of the cancer patient. The BScRT in the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry at the University of Alberta is a four-year, competency-based program. It combines classroom learning, laboratory experiences, simulated scenarios and real clinical experiences.
Our Curriculum & Learning Environment:
Our students work in a highly collaborative interdisciplinary environment with other health professionals, research scientists and clinical practice leaders in the provincial health system.
Students learn how to administer prescribed radiation treatment with care, compassion, and respect.
We provide a complex mix of educational experiences for students. Our curriculum is structured to support learner acquisition of higher-order thinking skills related to:
- Clinical interactions.
- Risk and benefit in treatment decision-making.
- The techniques and technology used in radiation therapy.
