Maria Santana
Dr. Maria J. Santana is an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Paediatrics and Community Health Sciences, and Director of The Methods Hub, O'Brien Institute for Public Health at the University of Calgary. She is a clinical pharmacist and holds a Masters of Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of La Laguna in Spain and a PhD in Public Health Sciences from the University of Alberta.
Dr. Santana is a Patient-Reported Outcome Measures methodologist working to develop high quality person-centred care quality indicators that could be implemented and used to measure person-centred care across the continuum of care. She is also interested in studying the effects of practicing Iyengar Yoga in chronically ill individuals, and the role of Patient-Reported Outcome Measures in the routine clinical care of chronically ill children.
Dr. Santana is a member of the O'Brien Institute for Public Health, The Libin Cardiovascular Institute of Alberta, the Alberta Children's Hospital Research Institute, and is an Associate Editor for the Journal of Patient-Reported Outcomes. She is the former Associate Director for the Alberta Strategy for Patient-Oriented Research (SPOR) Methods Support and Development Platform, former Board Member of the International Society for Quality of Life and Research, and a founding member of chapter 10 of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain.
