Danielle Bles
What is your role at the Glen Sather Clinic?
I have been a member of the interdisciplinary shoulder team since I started at the clinic in 2014. I have had the pleasure of working with multiple orthopedic surgeons and sports medicine physicians in this time.
What did you study and where? How long have you been at the Glen Sather Clinic?
I completed my Masters of Science in Physical therapy in 2011 at the University of Alberta. Before that I completed a Bachelor of Physical Education in 2008. Since graduating I have completed my intermediate examination in Manual and manipulative therapy with the Canadian Physiotherapy Association, and am certified in functional dry needling and diagnostic imaging. I have been at the GSSMC since 2014.
What are your key areas of interest as a physiotherapist?
I do love treating all kinds of injuries, but over the years I have developed a special interest in treating complex shoulder injuries. These can span anywhere from rotator cuff tears to instability. I find shoulders both challenging and fun to treat. I played hockey and fastball for many years so I also enjoy treating hockey injuries and the thrower’s shoulder.
What are your favourite ways to stay active?
I enjoy hockey, slo-pitch, beach volleyball, yoga, spinning and hiking. I am kept busy by my two young children and enjoy spending time outdoors and camping in the summer.
What has been your biggest accomplishment as a physiotherapist and/or athlete?
As an athlete, I played hockey as a goaltender for the University of Alberta Pandas in my undergrad and we won two national championships.
What days/hours are you at the clinic?
My booking hours are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 7:00 am to 12:30 pm
