I graduated with a bachelor of science in physical therapy in 1983 from the University of Toronto and a bachelor of science in kinesiology from the University of Waterloo in 1984. I became a Fellow to the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physical Therapist (FCAMPT) in 1992 and in 1998 obtained a diploma in Medical Acupuncture for the University of Alberta. I have a special interest in assessing and treating runners, tennis players and musicians.
What are your favourite ways to stay active?
I stay active playing competitive tennis, long distance running, weight training and doing yoga (ashtanga) depending on the season. I also play keyboards and guitar in a local rock band “Taxi” and I am presently studying for my RCM grade 7 piano exam.
What has been your biggest accomplishment as a physiotherapist and/or athlete?
As a physical therapist at the GSSMC I have had the privilege of treating a number of Olympians (4 gold medalists), many professional athletes and a few celebrities who at the time were performing in Edmonton. However helping amateur athletes reach their goals (whether that be finishing a first 5 km race, the Boston Marathon or achieving and athletic scholarship) has given me tremendous professional gratification.
I have ran the Boston Marathon, won the Mens Under 18 Ontario doubles tennis championship and played in the Canadian Table Tennis Championship.
