Knee Injury Clinics
The team at the Glen Sather Sports Medicine Clinic have developed a number of supports and services for those suffering with knee injuries. Our services range from surgery to physician-led education sessions to physiotherapy-led exercise classes. Learn more about our services for knee injuries:
Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) Injury Clinic
The ACL clinic provides treatment options for patients who suffered from an ACL injury. Our team includes an orthopedic surgeon, physical therapists and an administrative secretary who work together to educate, assess, and provide rehabilitation and surgical treatment options.
Referrals can be made by a sports medicine and exercise doctor or a physical therapist from the Glen Sather Clinic.
Acute Knee Injury Clinic
The Acute Knee Injury Clinic provides timely access to appropriate care for patients with an acute knee injury. The team consists of sports medicine and exercise physicians, orthopedic surgeons and physiotherapists. The purpose of the clinic is to help triage patients by utilizing early diagnosis and treatment. Early rehabilitation is also provided to minimize deterioration of the knee structures after injury.
Functional Agility and Strength Training (FAST) Knee Program
The FAST Knee Program is designed for individuals with previous knee injuries or surgeries. Participants engage in progressive physiotherapy/kinesiology-led group exercises with specific, individualized strength and conditioning goals. Classes run two times per week for six-week sessions.
Functional Knee Injury Clinic
The Functional Knee Injury Clinic provides education and treatment to patients who have suffered an ACL injury but will benefit from conservative treatment rather than surgery. Typically, these patients are older in age with signs of osteoarthritis, place low demands on their knee and have no complaints of instability. The team includes a sport and exercise medicine physician and a physiotherapist.
Referrals can be made from the sport and exercise medicine physician, a physiotherapist or an orthopedic surgeon in the Glen Sather Clinic.
