Ceremony of commemoration of the feminicide at École polytechnique de Montréal, on Friday, December 6, 2024, 12:15 pm

On Friday, December 6, 2024, Campus Saint-Jean of the University of Alberta and the Coalition des Femmes de l'Alberta are jointly organizing a ceremony to commemorate the feminicide of December 6, 1989 at École polytechnique de Montréal, in the presence of the Dean and members of the administration of Campus Saint-Jean and the University of Alberta.
The ceremony will pay hommage to the victims of the feminicide:

- Hélène Colgan
- Nathalie Croteau
- Barbara Daigneault
- Anne-Marie Edward
- Maud Haviernick
- Barbara Klucznik-Widajewicz
- Maryse Laganière
- Maryse Leclair
- Anne-Marie Lemay
- Sonia Pelletier
- Michèle Richard
- Annie St-Arneault
- Annie Turcotte
We invite members of the student body, academic and administrative staff, and members of the Edmonton community to attend.
This solemn commemoration will take place at 12:15 p.m., at the entrance of Pavillon McMahon, at the foot of Patrick Jacob's Trinity statue, a work of art paying tribute to the victims.
During the ceremony, the names of the victims will be read out as 14 white roses, each representing a victim of the feminicide, are laid at the foot of the sculpture.
Refreshments will be served at the end of the ceremony.
