The Honourable Claudette Tardif, recipient of the Alberta Order of Excellence
19 October 2023
The Honourable Claudette Tardif will be inducted today into the Alberta Order of Excellence. This is the highest honour the province can bestow. In doing so, the province is recognizing all the achievements and influence that the former senator and dean of the Faculté Saint-Jean has had on the Francophonie, bilingualism, and the rights of linguistic minorities.
The Honourable Claudette Tardif has had a major impact not only on the entire campus, but also on the entire French-speaking community of Alberta and Western Canada. Here at Campus Saint-Jean, by developing the faculty's programs, renovating the residence, and reinvigorating the entire structure of Campus Saint-Jean, her achievements have marked an important turning point in our history. At the provincial and federal levels, her tireless efforts have enabled our francophone communities to flourish and grow vigorously, with increasing access to health and justice services in French.
On behalf of the entire Campus Saint-Jean community, I congratulate her on her induction and, above all, thank her for the impact she has had — and continues to have — on our communities and our history.
