Professor Maïté Snauwaert, PhD, of Faculté Saint-Jean
An essay (in French) by Campus Saint-Jean professor Maïté Snauwaert, PhD, on the movie adaptation of Memoir of War (La Douleur) by Marguerite Duras and directed by Emmanuel Finkiel, will be published on March 7.
The film, based on the semi-autobiographical book published in 1985, focuses on the agonizing wait by the author for her husband, arrested and deported during World War II. It has been nominated for 8 César, the French national film awards, including Best Movie and Best Director.
The book is the firsat of a series entitled 'Les Films sélectionnés' (the Selected Films), edited by Carole Aurouet and published by Gremese. It is already available on Amazon.
The upcoming César ceremony will take place on February 22.
