Transitional Research
The Transitional Research Fellowship, in perioperative medicine, is offered for a one-year duration. It is expected that the applicant has at least one year of lab experience and is familiar with the most common basic science methods (WB, PCR, cell culture). The individual will be working initially under close supervision in the Cardiovascular Anesthesia Research Laboratory (part of the Cardiovascular Research Group and the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute) together with experienced PhDs and MDs.
Program Structure
The applicant will perform a substantial part of the experiments in one of the running or planned research projects during her/his one year fellowship. Active participation in translational and basic science research seminars is mandatory. Currently performed research projects cover topics from genetics, transcriptomics, proteomics, energy metabolisms, and stem cell research.
It is encouraged that eligible applicants also participate in clinical work. Fellows will be expected to conduct themselves autonomously in the adult theatres at the consultant level.
