SLIS/HUCO Student Receives SSHRC Masters Scholarship

Andrea Johnston, a combined Humanities Computing and School of Library and Information Studies (HuCo/SLIS) student, recently received a prestigious Joseph Armand Bombardier Canada Graduate Scholarship awarded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC). Her work aims to explore the psychogeography of Newfoundland folklore. Andrea aims to build an app that will include linkages to artifacts from Memorial University of Newfoundland's Folklore and Language Archive that allows the mapping of St John's ghost stories and folklore. Her work will help ensure access to the rich tradition of Newfoundland folklore. SLIS congratulates Andrea on this significant and well deserved recognition.
